Policy Workshop – Addressing Current Barriers to Circular Investment: Policy Approaches for Success

The InvestCEC and RESOURCE projects are launching a policy workshop to discuss ๐—˜๐—จ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—บ๐˜†.

In this workshop, speakers will present policy recommendations to accelerate the uptake of the circular economy and increase investment in circular companies. Partners from the InvestCEC and RESOURCE projects will share their best practices and recommendations and participants will gain valuable insights from policymakers, investors, and industry leaders on successful circular economy investments and successful policies. In the interactive sessions, all attendees will actively contribute to the development of policy recommendations.

Objectives 

  • To present and promote the collective work and findings of the InvestCEC and RESOURCE projects
  • To foster dialogue between diverse actors and stakeholders engaged in the circular economy transition, including policymakers, businesses, and practitioners. 
  • To highlight successful circular economy policy initiatives
  • To gather feedback on draft policy recommendations and explore new ideas for improving circular economy strategies at the EU and regional levels.

The InvestCEC project has already produced a midterm policy recommendations brief that will be further refined with the input and experience of the participants. Key policy recommendations for EU policymakers resulting from the InvestCEC project are:

  • Develop a pricing for externalities
  • Expand the scope of the EU Circular Taxonomy
  • Further develop circular economy indicators and labelling
  • Encourage the use of new valuation tools for the circular economy
  • Communicate the non-environmental benefits of the circular economy
