InvestCEC was represented by Greenovate! Europe and Enspire Science Ltd. in the EU Green Week 2025, where the project had a dedicated booth. The event was an excellent opportunity to engage with diverse stakeholders and gain insights into the key challenges and solutions discussed across various sessions. These sessions provided valuable insights which served to further refine InvestCEC policy recommendations.
The event was opened by a keynote speech from Jessica Roswell, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience, and a Competitive Circular Economy, who emphasised that the importance of systemic change to make the circular economy a reality. For this breakthrough to happen, a change of mindset is needed from all the stakeholders involved. Commisioner Roswell also highlighted key ambitions of the Commission for the circular economy, including: accelerating the EU bioeconomy, boosting demand for secondary raw materials, and removing bottleneck to enhance the trade of these materials within the EU.
On June 6, InvestCEC took part also in the the CCRI Stakeholder Workshop, which brought together CCRI stakeholders for a final physical gathering of the first phase of the CCRI. The insights provided during the event demonstrated that other CCRI projects, as well as the CCRI-CSO, are aligned with several recommendations put forward by InvestCEC in both its Mid-Term and Final Policy Recommendation Briefs. Notably, there was broad consensus—reflecting InvestCEC’s recommendations— that adopting circular procurement practices and shifting taxation from labour to virgin materials are essential to creating a more level playing field for circular economy businesses.
